The JDMIS understands that circumstances may change and a student's plans may not always be achievable. As a school, unforseen circumstances may also arise that lead to unexpected changes in schedule. In order to recognise these eventualities and provide a measure of protection should they occur, the JDMIS enters in to a formal contract with its full time diploma students (a sample of which may be found here) This contract includes a detailed refund policy that is utlines below.

Full Refund

The student maintains the right to request that the JDMIS refund student course fees in full, under the following conditions:

  • It fails, for any reason, to commence the Course on the Course Commencement Date;
  • It terminates the Course, for any reason, prior to the Course Commencement Date;
  • It fails, for any reason, to complete the Course by the Course Completion Date;
  • It terminates the Course, for any reason, prior to Course Completion Date; or
  • The Student’s Pass application is rejected by Immigration and Checkpoint Authority (ICA).

Students may expect such a refund within 7 working days from the date of their written request provided one or more of the above conditions are met.

Under these circumstances, the JDMIS shall refund:

  1. The entire amount of the Course fees and Miscellaneous fees minus any unconsumed tools and course material fees; and
  2. Contional upon the return of all tools, equipment and materials already issued to the student, the balance of the total course tools and material fees.

The JDMIS shall deduct any bank charges mentioned as per Standard Student Contract from amounts refunded to the student under these circumstances.

Partial Refund

Students who withdraw from the school of their own accord may request a partial refund from the JDMIS. The amount of the refund is based on the time between the receipt of the student's written notice of withdrawal and the course start date and is outlined in the Table below:

Transfer and Withdrawal Policy

Any student who transfers from an existing course to a new course shall be considered to have withdrawn from the current course and refund policy shall apply as per Standard Student Contract.

A student who withdraws from this school to enrol with another shall cease to be a student of the JDMIS and appropriate administrative activities including the cancellation student pass (if applicable) will be undertaken.

Transfer, Withdrawal and Deferment Procedures

A student who wishes to transfer, withdraw and defer from the course he/she applied for must submit the request in writing to the Registrar during school hours stating their reasons and, where possible, providing documentary evidence supporting their request.

Requests for transfer or withdrawal will be considered as termination of the current course of study. Hence, the clause 2.4 (Withdrawal without Cause and Refunds) will shall apply.

In the case of deferment being granted, the JDMIS will issue notice of deferment to the student and specify subsequent enrolment dates. The JDMIS does not treat approved deferment requests as withdrawals, however should the student not matriculate into the deferred programme; their deferment shall be treated as a withdrawal without cause after the commencement date (being the original course date prior to deferment.)

Withdrawal Process for Foreign Students

A student who ceases their studies with the JDMIS and who has been issued a student pass for a course of study with the JDMIS shall surrender his/her passport and student pass for cancellation immediately upon approval of their withdrawal/transfer request as required by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority. Students are advised that the Student Pass is not transferable.

Important Notice Regarding Method of Refund

Students should be aware that the JDMIS will not refund moneys paid by parents or guardians directly to a student. In instances where a student cancels or withdraws from a course of study and their fees were paid by a parent, the refund will be issued to that parent using an appropriate payment method.
